Info

The shape and size of each pot is uniform, though the colour tones may vary from the photographs due to the mysterious nature of wood-firing.

Your pot will age and darken beautifully the more you cook in it.

Size

The clay pot is ancient technology. It’s what our ancestors cooked in. Earth is moulded with hands and water, dried and then hardened by a fire of burning wood to create a functional cooking vessel. These are pots have been used for decades throughout Asia.

Hairline cracks may form over time on the bottom and inside of the pot - this is normal and a natural part of the ageing process. It does not affect your cooking and your pot is still useable. We've been cooking frequently in these pots for over 8 years in both a home and commercial setting and they are still intact, despite the hairline cracks.

THE MAKERS.
Ah Meng & Sons

The boss man. Ah Meng, he's been working with clay since he was a young boy. He learnt his clay pot makin skills from his father, who learnt them from his father. He doesn't do much of the laborious work these days as he is getting older, but he has an eye over every detail and makes sure systems are running smoothly.

Ah Meng's youngest son loading the kiln. The clay pots are 'cooked' or fired using wood as the fuel. This is the traditional method. The firing runs for 3 days. A makeshift door is made of bricks and clay to lock in the heat during the firing.

Removing sheets of purified clay after they've been washed and filtered to remove large sediment and impurities.
