NOVA DIATMIKA

METAL / WOOD

BALI,  INDONESIA

Nova Diatmika is a  fourth generation Balinese blacksmith who learnt the craft from his father.

His work carries the Balinese traditions, but has opened to inspiration from Japanese knife making styles.

Nova uses a traditional forge, fuelled by bamboo charcoal to heat the metal, then hammers the blades into shape and hardness by hand.

He makes the wooden handles and knife covers from local Balinese woods.

We acknowledge the Arakwal, Widjabal and Minjungbal people of the Bundjalung Nation, where we work and live. We honour their innate connection to the land and waters.
